Dr. István Ecsedi was born in 1944. He received his MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University for Heavy Industry in 1967. In 1981, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences gave him the scientific degree Candidate of Technical Sciences. His thesis dealt with the Saint-Venant torsion of nonhomogeneous beams. Currently he is a Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Applied Mechanics. His main research interests is the boundary value problems of non-homogeneous and anisotropic elastic bodies.
