Dr. György Szeidl was born in 1942. He earned his MSc degree with honors in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Miskolc in 1967. Scientific degrees: PhD from the University of Miskolc (1976), PhD degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1985), Habilitation from the University of Miskolc (1998), DSc from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2006). Positions held in a Research Group at the Department of Mechanics: assistant (1968-1976), research fellow (1976-1985), senior research fellow (1985-1992). Positions at the Institute of Applied Mechanics: associate professor (1992-1999), full professor (1999-2012), Head of Institute (2003-2007), Professor Emeritus (2012-). Research interests: dual variational principles in the micropolar theory of elasticity, boundary element method, stability problems and vibrations of loaded structures.
